Big red onions

Big Onions

Big onions are found in almost every dish in Sri Lanka. Their crunchy texture and bold flavour add depth to countless recipes. Although the origins of onions are not precisely known, their use dates back to 5,000 BC, with most supply today coming from India and Central Asia.

We source high-quality big onions from India, Pakistan, China, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Egypt. Their bright red-brown outer skin and sharp taste make them a favourite addition to Sri Lankan cuisine.

Fresh potatoes

Potatoes

Potatoes are a root vegetable of the plant Solanum tuberosum, widely used in Sri Lankan cuisine, whether as an addition to curries or as a standalone potato curry. Introduced to Europe from the Americas, potatoes are now a staple in households across the world and rank among the fourth largest food crops globally.

We source and import quality potatoes from Pakistan, China, India, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands.

Small sambar onions

Small Onions (Sambar Onions)

Small onions are milder in taste but offer a sharper crunch. They are a commonly used ingredient in households across Southeast Asia, widely featured in curries and various types of sambar in India and Sri Lanka.

Beyond the kitchen, small onions hold a place in traditional medicine. Many Sri Lankan and Indian households use them as a home remedy for sore throats and colds.

Fresh garlic bulbs

Garlic

Garlic is a species of the onion family, native to Central Asia. Most of the garlic supply in Sri Lanka comes from China. Its history of human consumption spans several thousand years, used not only as a food flavouring but also in traditional medicine.

Garlic offers numerous health benefits, including supporting cardiovascular health, reducing blood pressure, and providing antioxidant properties.

Rice grains

Rice

Rice and curry is a lunchtime favourite for Sri Lankans across every culture and community. In some traditions, it is served three times a day. Known as one of the oldest cereal grains, rice (Oryza sativa) has been cultivated for at least 5,000 years.

While white rice remains the most common variety, healthier options such as brown rice, with its higher fibre content, are gaining popularity in households across the island.

Fresh mandarin oranges

Mandarin

Mandarins are a popular fruit in Sri Lanka, a small, loose-skinned variety of the orange family. Packed with vitamin C, they are enjoyed on their own, in fruit salads, or blended into juice. Their sweet flavour with citrusy undertones makes them a refreshing treat during warm seasons.

We import mandarins from Pakistan, and each shipment goes through a rigorous quality assurance process before reaching the market.
